Insect pests cause considerable direct and indirect damage to major horticultural crops. A thorough knowledge about pest species, extant of damage, damaging stage, vulnerable stage of pest and its life cycle is necessary for their effective management. This book contains necessary scientific information useful for the identification and description of the pests infesting horticultural crops along with the integrated management strategies. Pest problems in horticulture has increased many times during the last four decades due to highly use of pesticides. Some of the minor pests have assumed the status of major pests and several pests have developed resistance to most commonly used pesticides. The book has been prepared keeping in view to fullfill the requirements of B.Sc. (Hons) and PG students of agriculture, horticulture and allied science. An effort has been made to mix the ecological principles with integrated technologies to suggest pest management programmes. In each chapter, there is a brief description of major and minor pests associated with particular crop in the text as well as in the tabular form. Emphasizing upon the fact that every part of a plant is apt to be attacked by one or more species of insect or related pests. The major portion of book is divided into three subparts like vegetable, ornamental and spices insect pests.
