The range of pressures affecting farmers has increased significantly in recent times. Produce must meet escalating quality requirement, while competition demands heightened productivity. At the same time, the community demands that farmers maintain the natural resource base of the land of which they are custodians and that they minimize chemical treatments and fertilizers. This book concentrates on today’s principles of farming and addresses the issues of raising productivity and environmental management . This book also endeavours to put crop production in a broader perspective by addressing issues, such as socio-economic aspects and crop to make them understand the practices of irrigation and its role in food grain produation.
Dr. S. Krishnaprabu, is graduated in B.Sc. (Agriculture)from Agricultural College and Research Institute, Madurai, Tamil Nadu, where he did his M.Sc. (Ag.) in 2002. He has been working in Annamalai University from 2002, where he obtained his Ph.D. in Agronomy also with specialization in Nutrient Management and presently, he is Assistant Professor in Agronomy, his specialization is in Nutrient Management and Crop Improvement and he has been teaching course son Principles of Agronomy, Irrigation and Dry Farming Management, Agronomy of Field Crops and Crop Production to under-graduate students for ten years. He is supervising to his credit of more than ten numbers of research papers published various international journals. Also, a widely accepted two text books entitled, 'Scientific Production of Field Crops' are 'Rice Production' and value to his name.
