Advances in Nanoscience represent one of the most fascinating frontiers of modern science where materials and systems are studied, designed and manipulated at dimensions invisible to the naked eye. This book, Nanoscience in action, has been written to provide readers with a comprehensive understanding of the principles, progress and applications of this rapidly advancing field. Beginning with an introduction to the concept, history, and fundamentals of nanoscience, the book moves through the exploration of nanoparticles and nanomaterials, their synthesis, and characterization techniques. In subsequent chapters, it highlights the transformative role of Nanotechnology across diverse sectors ranging from precision agriculture and environment management to medicine, energy, electronics, and computer science. Each chapter blends theoretical insights with practical perspectives, helping readers appreciate how nanoscale innovations are shaping sustainable solutions for real-world challenges. The final chapter discusses the current advances, limitations, and promising future directions of Nanotechnology, inspiring curiosity and critical thinking among students, researchers, and science enthusiasts alike. This book aims to bridge scientific understanding with societal relevance, encouraging readers to view nanoscience not merely as a technological tool, but as a catalyst for innovation, sustainability and human progress.
Miss Gagandeep Kaur is pursuing her Ph.D. in Soil Science at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K). She has earned her B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture and M.Sc. in Soil Science from Sant Baba Bhag Singh University, Khiala, Jalandhar, Punjab. During her Master’s program, she focused on studying the influence of organic and inorganic nutrient sources on soil properties and crop performance. Currently, she is engaged in research on slow-release fertilizers, aimed at improving nutrient use efficiency and environmental sustainability. She has contributed several book chapters and research papers to reputed publications and her work continues to explore the potential of nanotechnology in advancing modern and sustainable agriculture.
