This book has been written with the aim of fulfilling the requirements of undergraduate and post-graduate veterinary students for the new VCI course curriculum in mind. Students are looking for material in the fields of wildlife medicine, ethics, and jurisprudence. Under current VCI regulation for B.V.Sc. & A.H. program, the entire content of this book has been put under two unit i.e. four and unit seven. No specific book is currently available that includes all the material needed for both UG and PG courses. There are 35 chapters in this book includes "fill in the blank" questions with answers to familiarize the students with the pattern of questions that may arise in the examination. This book will also be highly useful for the veterinarians, animal welfare activists and advocates as a ready reckoner for resolving legal dispute pertaining to animals. Apart from this, it will be helpful for students preparing for civil services, veterinary services of various state government. ARS, JRF, SRF, NET and other examinations of similar nature. I am confident this book will cater to the need of students preparing for various competitive examinations involving objective as well as subjective type of questions.
Prof. (Dr.) Bipin Kumar serving as a Professor in the Department of Veterinary Medicine at Bihar Veterinary College, Bihar Animal Sciences University, Patna, since 2007. Born in 1976 and raised in the village of Utarthu (Bind, Nalanda, Bihar). He completed his early schooling locally before pursuing his B.V.Sc. & A.H. and M.V.Sc. at Bihar Veterinary College (RAU, PUSA). He later earned his Ph.D. from the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Izatnagar, Bareilly, UP, India. Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards from various organizations in recognition of his contributions to the field. He has mentored seven M.V.Sc. students and one Ph.D. student as a major advisor, and ten students as a minor advisor. His work involves continuous undergraduate and post-graduate teaching, alongside conducting university-funded and externally funded research projects. To date, he has published 52 research and review articles, as well as several popular articles and book chapters. Internationally, he completed specialized training in Animal Disaster Management in Bangkok and subsequently imparted this training to veterinarians in Myanmar. Since 2008, he has been associated with World Animal Protection (formerly WSPA), an international organization dedicated to global animal welfare. Drawing from his academic journey, he recognized the urgent need for a comprehensive text on Wildlife Medicine: Ethics, Jurisprudence & Animal Welfare. This book is designed to cater to the needs of students in both curricular and competitive examinations. Notably, it incorporates updated legal frameworks following the implementation of the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita (BNS) in 2023, ensuring the content reflects current laws regarding animal welfare.
