The book entitled “A Textbook of Bovine Surgery” is written with the objective to give the concised information about the commonly performed surgeries in Bovines. The book has step by step procedures as how to porceed for any surgery in bovines which can be very well applied or practiced by f ield veterinarians, academicians and under-graduate and post-graduate students. The book covers all the body systems and shall be very useful for facing competitive examinations by UG and PG students. Topics like fluid therapy and common neoplasms in Bovines have also been covered which have practical utility in the field of Bovine Surgery.
Dr. Shailendra Kumar Tiwari, Dean, College of Veterinary Science and A.H., Anjora, Durg and former Director Instructions, Chhattisgarh Kamdhenu Vishwavidyalaya, Durg (Chhattisgarh) and Professor and Head, Department of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology was born on 1st June, 1962 at Maihar, district Satna (Madhya Pradesh). Dr. Tiwari obtained his B.V.Sc. and A.H. and M.V.Sc. and A.H. degree from Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh) in 1983 and 1988 respectively with the Gold Medalist in both the degree. Dr. Tiwari obtained his Ph.D. degree in 1996 from G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, Uttarakhand under the guidance of renowned surgeon Prof. (Dr.) Amresh Kumar and received “Jawaharlal Nehru Award” of ICAR for Best Ph.D. thesis in 1998. Dr. Tiwari started his service career as a Veterinary Officer in 1985 and became Professor and Head in 2003, where he was continuing before selection in the post of Director Instructions in 2014. Dr. Tiwari joined the post of Dean on 12 March, 2020. During the academic Dr. Tiwari is recipient of many award viz. University Gold Medal for B.V.Sc. and A.H. and M.V.Sc. and A.H. degree R.K. Gambhir Gold Medal, Behre Gold Medal, Patwardhan Gold Medal, Jawaharlal Nehru Award, ICAR Junior fellowship, ICAR Senior fellowship, Commonwealth fellowship, etc. Dr Tiwari has 32 years experience of teaching, research and extension work in the field of Veterinary Science. He has guided 29 M.V.Sc. and 2 Ph.D. student. Dr Tiwari is recipient of several awards viz. Jawaharlal Nehru Award, Best Teacher Award, Bharat Jyoti Award, A.K. Bhargava Memorial Award, Pashudhan Silver Jubilee Award, Krishi Shiromani Award, Fellow of NAVS, Fellow of ISVS, etc. Dr Tiwari has been elected twice a member of “Executive Council” of NAVS and is still continuing. Dr Tiwari has high scientific temperament and publish 269 research papers in reputed journals of India and abroad. Dr. Tiwari has published a book entitled “Textbook of Anaesthesia and Analgesia” published by New Delhi Publisher, New Delhi in 2018. He has also published a book on Canine Surgery. Dr. Tiwari is a member of Executive, Academic and Administrative Council of Dau Shri Vashudev Chandrakar Kamdhenu Vishwavidyalaya. He is known for successful surgery in small as well as large animal in Chhattisgarh state.
Dr. Deepak Kumar Kashyap, Assistant Professor of Veteri nary Polytechnic, Surajpur, Chhattisgarh under Chhattisgarh Kamdhenu Vishwavidyalaya, Durg, Chhattisgarh. He has completed his B.V.Sc. and A.H. and M.V.Sc. degree (Veterinary Surgery and Radiology) from College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Raipur, Chhattisgarh in 2009 and 2011 respectively. He has also completed his Ph.D. degree from College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Dau Shri Vashudev Chandrakar Kamdhenu Vishwavidyalaya, Durg (C.G.) Dr. Kashyap has 10 years’ experience of teaching, research and extension work. He has previously served as a teaching faculty in G. B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, Uttarakhand in 2012 and as an Assistant Professor in Arawali Veterinary College, Sikar, RAJUVAS, Bikaner, Rajasthan from 2012 to July 2015. He has joined Chhattisgarh Kamdhenu Vishwavidyalaya on 27th July, 2015 as an Assistant Professor. Dr Kashyap has published more than 52 research papers in different national and international reputed journals along with manuals and books. He has also been reviewer and member of advisory board of various national and international journals. Dr Kashyap has presented several papers and posters in various national and international conferences, seminar and symposium and received awards for best presentation.
Dr Md. Osamah. Kalim, Assistant Professor, Department of Surgery and Radiology, College of Veterinary Science and A.H., Anjora, Durg (C.G.) was born on 26th October, 1979 at Ranchi, Jharkhand. Dr Kalim obtained his B.V.Sc. and A.H. and M.V.Sc. degree (Veterinary Surgery and Radiology) from College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Raipur, Chhattisgarh in 2006 and 2008 respectively with the distinction and merit scholarship in M.V.Sc. degree. Dr Kalim started his service career as a teaching assistant in 2008 to 2009 in the Department of Surgery and Radiology. He also worked as a Veterinary Officer in Wildlife Trust of India for one year in Udanti Sanctuary, Chhattisgarh and Dudhwa Tiger Reserve (U.P). He was selected as an Assistant Professor in 2010 in Shere-e-Kashmir Agricultural University, Srinagar (J&K). Dr Kalim was the Principal Investigator of an RCM project sponsored SKUAST-K on Clinico-physiological and biochemical effects of epidural bupivacaine and ketamine in cow calves in SKUAST-K. He was again selected as an Assistant Professor in Chhattisgarh Kamdhenu Vishwavidyalaya, Durg in 2012, where he is continuing till date. Dr Kalim has 10 years’ experience of teaching, research and extension works in the field of veterinary science in general and veterinary surgery in particular. He has guided 08 M.V.Sc. students as a minor guide. Dr Kalim is the Co principal Investigator of two projects viz. improving the livelihood security of tribal community of Surguja district of Chhattisgarh state by introduction of improved backyard and diversified poultry species at Chhattisgarh Kamdhenu Vishwavidyalaya, Durg and National Livestock Mission of India, in the field of extension work. Dr Kalim has published 14 International Research papers, 19 National Research papers, 32 Clinical articles, 14 popular articles and 108 abstracts in reputed journals of India and abroad. Dr Kalim has been also published 01 book and 02 chapters in different books. He is well known for successful surgery in small and large animals in Chhattisgarh state.
