Dr. D. Thyagarajan being specialised in poultry science with doctorate degree, having more than 80 research articles, 130 research paper presentations, 126 popular articles, 26 books edited, authored 10 books, generated six technologies, completed nine research projects as Principal Investigator and recognised nationally with ICAR “Outstanding extension scientist/worker award” for the year 1996-1998. Right now, the author holding two assignments as Dean, Faculty of Food Sciences and Director of Research, Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University. Completed 32 years of University service from Assistant Professsor to present position. Currently involved in many positions for policy development of state and centre.

The author has completed ICAR funded scheme -Evolving optimum management practices and nutritional requirement of turkey” which outlined 42 biological experiments. He has established, “Package of practice for scientific turkey farming”. He was responsible for technology dissemination to turkey farmers in Kancheepuram district. He was instrumental to create microentrepreneur avenues in scientific turkey farming among the resource poor women. He has completed DBT funded project,” Poverty alleviation through scientific turkey farming in selected rural areas of Kancheepuram District of Tamil Nadu”. He has carried out lot of pioneer works in the turkey, and guinea fowl farming. His rich experience and scientific knowledge gathered over the years is outlined in the present book in different segments as scientific turkey management, turkeys feed and feeding and hatchery management. Dr. A. Ashok is a Assistant Professor of Poultry Science of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Chennai. He has over 13 years of experience in teaching, research and extension activities. He is a recipient of senior fellowship in poultry science awarded by ICAR. He is also recipient of Ms.Venkatehwara Hatcheries gold medal for the first rank in M.V.Sc. Poultry science in College of Veterinary Science, Hyderabad, APAU. He was also awarded the Ms. Venkatehwara Hatcheries gold medal for the best Ph.D. thesis in the field by TANUVAS. He has published several technical papers/articles to his credit. He has also authored/edited over 10 books. He is a life member of several professional societies.
