This book has been mainly written to meet the requirement of graduate students of State Agricultural Universities. However, this also meets the requirement of students who study statistics as a part of other subjects. The subject matter has been presented in such a way that it is easily expectable to students. Worked out examples have been incorporated to help the students in getting the clear concept of the subject and allied matters. This book contains the concept of statistics, presentation of data; descript statistics, probability and basic distributions, bi-variate statistics and some important text. It contains introduction to statistics. A brief account has also been given on important terms glossary and other relevant tables generated from computers.

Prof. (Dr.) Ramesh Chandra Bharati, born on 31st January 1961 is presently working at ICAR Research Complex for Eastern Region, Patna. He has more than twenty five years of teaching and research experience. He was University professor of Statistics in the Post Graduate Department of Rajendra Agricultural University Bihar, Pusa and served the University for twenty years. He did his Ph.D. in Agricultural statistics from Gujarat Agricultural University Navsari (Gujarat). He was the recipient of Gold Medal for standing first class first in M.Sc. (Ag.) examination form Rajendra Agricultural University Bihar, Pusa. He guided dozen of Ph.D. and M. Sc. students in the area of Agricultural Statistics. In addition to this he acted as joint advisor for more than 200 P.G. and Ph.D. students belonging to different disciplines of Agriculture, Veterinary and Home Sciences. He has associated with development efficient agro-techniques, including efficient cropping systems and varieties. Conservation agricultural technologies have been standardized for Bihar conditions. He has sixty publications in national and international referred journals, including book chapters and manuals. He has also developed statistical software RAUSTAT for Windows V1.0. He is associated in international collaborative project on Natural Resource Management sponsored by Bills and Melinda Gates Foundation. He has experience of working on several research projects of national and international importance in the area of agriculture and statistics

Dr. Anil Kumar Singh (born 1975), Senior Scientist (Agronomy) is working at ICAR Research Complex for Eastern Region, Patna. Dr Singh has developed efficient agro-techniques, including efficient cropping systemsand varieties.Developed efficient cropping system for arsenic affected areas and irrigated upland of Bihar.He has also developed nutrient management technology for rice-lentil cropping system,integrated farming system for rainfed area. Conservation agricultural technologies have been standardized for Bihar conditions. Having 216 publications including 65 research articles in International/ National peer reviewed journals and 4 books. Conducted several training modules as a course director designed for state agriculture/development officers. Contribution of Dr Singh has been recognized by the professional societies by appointing him as aeditors, member of editorial board and awards and recognitions (i) “Certificate of Recognition -” by Association of Plant Pathology, DR PDKV, Akola for scientific contribution in the journal of Plant Disease Sciences (ii) Young Scientist Award- 2011 by International Consortium for Contemporary Biologist and MSET Ranchi (Jharkhand) (iii) “KunwarSexanaBahadur SRDA Award -2010” (iv) “Scientist of the Year Award -2009” for understanding and recognition in the field of agronomy by Society for Recent Development (SRDA) in Agriculture, Meerut (UP). (v) “Rural Scientist of Biennium -2008-09” by Society for upliftment of rural economy (SURE) Varanasi (UP) for his technical contribution in rainfed dry land agriculture.
