There is a marked improvement in the Animal Husbandry sector and in particular in the Poultry Sector in India, as it is emerging as an important activity for enhancing nutrition and providing employment as the broiler production has grown in importance. According to industry sources, the animal rate of growth amounted to 20 per cent for broilers and ten per cent for eggs. Today, India ranks as the world’s third largest egg producing country and fifth largest poultry meat producer. Today a network of over 500 commercial hatcheries and breeding farms, 100 commercial feed mills, Veterinary pharmaceuticals and equipment manufacturers have made poultry farming a dynamic agri-business, duly supported by research and development.This book would be of great use to undergraduate, post – graduate students, teachers and scientist’s affiliated to poultry science. In this text book, emphasis has been given on the general management, feeding and nutrition disease control & diagnosis of broiler and layer chicken and hatchery management.
