Laboratory Animal management is a multi-disciplinary concept in which in depth knowledge is required to achieve optimal results in term of management and handing of various laboratory animals. No doubt sufficient theoretical knowledge and practical training is needed for scientific management of various laboratory animals accordingly with a view to generate increased awareness and scientific knowhow among the students of BVSc. & A.H researchers and teachers of veterinary profession from various Agricultural/Veterinary University research institutes and bio-medical institution there was a felt need of having a standard textbook which dealt with the fundamental concepts of laboratory animals management  in the Indian context. Thus this book is in consonance with the syllabi requirement of undergraduate and post- graduate students of veterinary colleges in India prescribed by veterinary council of India the book includes comprehensive and updated information on all the topics while compiling the text of this book the author have consulted various text/reference book journals and other published /unpublished wherever quoted/reproduced in the text is hereby dully acknowledge this book has 24 chapters provide comprehensive information on the principles and practices of using different species of laboratory animals such as laboratory mice, rat, guinea, pig, hamster, chinchilla, ferret, gerbil, dog, cat, monkey, birds, specific pathogen free animals and gnotobiotic animals.  

Dr. M.T. Banday, Professor M.T. Banday Completed BVSc & AH From APAU, Hyderabad in 1986 and MVSc in Poultry Science CSIR Sr. Fellowship from UAS, Bangalore in 1989. He joined SKUAST- Kashmir as Assistant Professor in the year 1989. Subsequently he completed Doctoral Programmer in Poultry Science in 1997 from IVRI, Bareilly with CSIR Sr. Research Fellowship. He is recipient of Fellow National from Animal Production Management Society of India and IPSA fellow from Indian Poultry Science Association. He received SK Ranjhan Award from Animal Nutrition Society of India for his doctoral Programmer. He is presently working as Professor and Head Division of LPM. He has published about 250 research papers/abstracts/popular scientific articles, 3 books, 2 book chapters, 5 technical bulletins one monograph four practical manuals and edited learning material on Poultry Production for national Institute of Open School, New Delhi. He is managing as Principal investigator for Experiential learning for hands on training on Broiler Production and Use of Photogenic as feed additive. He is associated with two research projects under the aegis of ICAR and DST. He has participated in several national and international conference presented research papers.He is in the editorial board of two Poultry magazines. He has guided 5 students for Ph.D. Programme and 13 students for MVSc programme. He writes scientific and popular articles in English and Urdu. Dr. Sheikh Adil, is n Assistant Professor in the Department of Livestock Production and Management, F.V.Sc. & A.H., SKUAST-Kashmir. He has a vast experience in teaching, research and extension activities. He got third rank in B.V.Sc. and first rank in M.V.Sc. He has published a number or research and technical papers in various journals of national and international repute. Besides the has number of book chapters, manuals monographs pamphlets etc. to his credit. He is an Editorial board member in various reputed national and international journals. Dr. Afzal H Akand, did his BVSc & AH from College of Veterinary Sciences, Khanapara, Guwahati, AAu Jorhat Assam. Subsequently he did masters in Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Extension Assam Agricultural University Guwahati, Jorhat, Assam. He completed Ph.D. in Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Extension from Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar, Barielly, UP. At present he is working as Assistant Professor in the Division of Veterinary & Animals Husbandry Extension in the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Science & Technology of Kashmir.
