The objective of this book is to present a concise collection of important aspects of veterinary medicine in a manner that everyone can easily understand. This book contains more than 3000 questions with a “Quick Review” of the subject providing new information from the latest book and literatures. Multiple type questions from different units including general medicine, diagnosis, prevention and control of animal diseases, diseases of digestive system, diseases of cardiovascular and pulmonary system, diseases of urinary system, diseases of nervous system, diseases of musculoskeletal/integumentary system, metabolic and deficiency diseases, common toxicities in animals, infectious diseases (bacterial, viral, mycoplasmal, chlamydial, rickettsial and fungal, parasitic and poultry diseases), veterinary jurisprudence and ethics, common diseases of zoo, laboratory animals, wildlife and special therapeutic approaches. This book has been thoroughly revised keeping in mind the requirements of students preparing for ICAR PG entrance examination and ICAR-NET. My special effort, while compiling the book, was including as many novel questions as possible and putting some of the reasoning questions just to motivate the students to go in the depth of topic.
Dr. Kapil Kumar Gupta, did his B.V.Sc. & A.H. from Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Hisar, Haryana in 2014. He completed his master’s degree in Veterinary Medicine from Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Pashu Chikitsa Vigyan Vishwavidyalaya Evam Go-Anusandhan Sansthan, Mathura in 2017 with honors. Currently he is pursuing Ph.D. in Veterinary Medicine from Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Izatnagar, Bareilly. He also worked as Assistant Professor in Apollo College of Veterinary Medicine, Jaipur for more than a year. He has published around 20 research papers, 2 review articles, 14 popular articles in many national, international journals and magazines. He has been awarded with Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) in 2019 by ICAR, best poster presentation award in the annual conference of ISVM at Bikaner in 2019. He has also been awarded with “Young Scientist Award” in the year 2019, in annual conference of VIPM at Mathura. He has work experience in the field of hemoprotozoan diseases of large animals specially Theileria spp. At present, he is doing research work in the field of molecular medicine at National Research Centre on Equine, Hisar, Haryana.
Dr. Neha Gupta, graduated from Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar in 2015 and secured first division. She did her master's degree from Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar in veterinary medicine in 2017 with distinction. She has published 7 research papers, 11 popular articles and 2 manuals. She is currently working as Assistant Professor in the department of Veterinary Clinical Complex, Apollo College of Veterinary Medicine, Jaipur, Rajasthan. She is incharge of small animal clinic in veterinary clinical complex, A.C.V.M., Jaipur. She is working on small animals including exotic species since 2017 and has specialization in small animal surgeries and treatment.
Dr. Sahadeb Dey, graduated from Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya in 1986 and secured first position. He has been awarded with ICAR-Junior Fellowship in veterinary medicine and he did his master’s degree (1987-1989) from HAU, Hisar. In 1990, he was awarded with CSIR-Senior Fellowship and completed his doctoral studies at IVRI in 1992. He joined ARS service in 1992 and worked as Scientist at IVRI from 1993-1999. He worked as Associate Professor in clinical medicine department at Pondicherry Veterinary College from 1999-2000 (on deputation). He joined as Senior Scientist in veterinary medicine at NRCE, Hisar and worked there from 2000-2006. He is currently working as Principal Scientist in the discipline of veterinary medicine at IVRI, Izatnagar since August 2006. He has published more than 119 research papers in Journals of International repute, 4 technical manuals and 2 book chapters. He has addressed 21 international forums as lead speaker in his area of expertise. Till now he has guided 18 Master’s and 11 Doctoral students.
Dr. Sanjay Kumar did his B.V.Sc. & A.H. in 1991; M.V.Sc. (Veterinary Medicine) in 1993 and Ph.D. in 1997 from C.C.S. Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar. He also completed MBA (HRM) from Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar and Postgraduate Diploma in Technology Management in Agriculture (PGD-TMA) from University of Hyderabad. He has joined as Scientist at ICAR-National Research Centre on Equines, Hisar in 1997. Presently he is working as Principal Scientist at NRCE, Hisar. He received ICAR-JRF and CSIR-SRF during his M.V.Sc. and Ph.D. program. He was also awarded with Japanese Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS) Fellowship for Foreign Researcher for pursuing Post-Doctorate in Molecular Protozoology at National Research Centre for Protozoan Diseases, Obihiro, Japan (2001-2004). Till now he has guided 9 Master’s and 3 Ph.D. students. He has more than 70 research articles in the peer reviewed journals of national and international repute. He has contributed significantly to the area of development of sensitive and specific diagnostic against equine piroplasmosis, surra and pregnancy diagnosis in mares. Currently he is working in the area of drug development against Theileria equi.
Dr. Mukesh Kumar Srivastava graduated from College of Veterinary and Animal Science, Mathura, CSA University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur, U.P. in 2004 and secured first division. He did his master's degree from Bombay Veterinary College, Mumbai (MAFSU), Nagpur, Maharashtra in 2006, in Veterinary Medicine. He did his Ph.D. from College of Veterinary and Animal Science, RAJUVAS, Bikaner in 2015 in veterinary medicine. He has worked as Teaching Associate in College of Veterinary and Animal Science, DUVASU, Mathura from 2008 to 2009. Currently he is working as Assistant Professor in the department of veterinary clinical medicine, DUVASU, Mathura since 2009. He has published 4 book chapters, 3 manuals, 12 Review articles, more than 60 research and clinical articles and more than 15 popular articles. He is working as Executive General Secretary of Veterinary Internal and Preventive Medicine Society.
